VOLUNTEER
What About Bob?
I started my love of the water early. Growing up on shores of Lake Michigan, I would go salmon fishing with my dad and brothers and quickly learned how amazing water can be. My first sailboat (Super Snark) was purchased from the Sears catalog when I was in 5th grade. I went in 50/50 with my dad for the $700 boat using money saved from birthdays, holidays and odd jobs. From there it was windsurfing with my brother in the summers on Lake Geneva, Wisconsin listening to the Beach Boys and drinking Sunkist soda.
I grew to love the local area as a kid visiting my grandparents in Englewood every summer. Over the years, the Venice area would keep pulling me back until my wife and I became full-time residents a few years back. There have been many boats and many adventures to far away places and I am now excited to share the stories and history of Sarasota and Charlotte county waterways.
As a licensed USCG boat captain, your safety, fun and comfort are my top priorities. I have thousands of hours logged on the local waterways and keep certifications in first aid, CPR, and seamanship.
